Hon. Ramón Valadez founded Valadez & Associates in January 2021.
Ramón most recently served as Pima County Supervisor for District 2, retiring as Chairman of the Board at the end of 2020. He was responsible for providing legislative and executive leadership for a local governmental entity with more than 7,000 employees and an annual budget of more than $1.3 billion. Ramón played a key role in developing and implementing the Pima County Economic Development Plan, initially implemented in 2009. This plan’s continued development and implementation has effectively moved Pima County forward through 2020 and beyond.
Since joining the Board of Supervisors in 2003, Ramón was responsible for the approval of cumulative budgets of more than $18.7 billion in revenue and expenditures, managing local, state, and federal funding for courts, libraries, parks, flood control, transportation, sewer facilities, public health, neighborhood improvements, community development, and economic development projects. He also represented Pima County on the Pima Association of Governments (PAG) Regional Council and was the longest-serving member and a two-time chair. He is also a three-time chair of the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), responsible for overseeing the expenditure of $2 billion in regional roadway improvements, expanded mass transit services, and traffic intersection and pedestrian safety infrastructure improvements.
Ramón was elected to represent Arizona’s Legislative District 10 in the State House of Representatives in 1996, during which he served as the first freshman legislator appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee and later that same year became its ranking member. He also served on the Commerce, Government Operations, Rules, and Human Services committees. Ramón then ran for and was elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2000. As Vice Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, Ramón worked with the Chairman to establish the committee agendas and represent Democratic leadership in committee discussions. He also served as lead negotiator for Senate Democrats on budget negotiations regarding tax and revenue issues. Following his service in the Senate, Ramón served as Senior Level Staff to Governor Janet Napolitano, responsible for advising the Governor on economic development issues throughout Southern Arizona.
Before his public service to the State of Arizona, Ramón also worked as district staff for U.S. Senator Dennis DeConcini and U.S. Representative Ed Pastor. He has a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Ramón has been involved in entrepreneurship and business for many years. His experience includes being a co-founder, CEO, and COO of a healthcare delivery company, real estate investor, private lender, business sales and marketing strategy coach, multilevel network marketer, and management consultant.
A Tucson native, Ramón resides in Sahuarita, Arizona.
