V&A Partner Michael DiMaria was retained to lower the company's overall tax liability and to head off potentially damaging regulatory legislation. Over a ten-year period, Mr. DiMaria drove a multi-year legislative and regulatory strategy: securing accelerated depreciation legislation on new broadband installations and construction, which lowered the company's valuation floor from 10% to 2.5%, and reducing the company's taxable value by more than $400 million by removing obsolete plant and equipment from its Department of Revenue valuation.

In 2024 and 2025, legislation was introduced that would have fundamentally altered how the client's broadband networks were regulated and how the company ran its day-to-day operations. V&A launched an aggressive lobbying and education effort, briefing legislators on the client's cybersecurity and network security divisions and their nationally recognized expertise — building a coalition of like-minded companies and associations to stop the legislation from being enacted.
